Everything you need to get Captain Cut running in Premiere Pro.
Captain Cut is an Adobe Premiere Pro extension. Follow these steps to install it on your machine.
After purchasing a plan, download the Captain Cut installer from your dashboard. Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
Unzip the downloaded file and run the one-click installer for your platform:

$ Double-click "Install - Mac.command"

$ Double-click "Install - Windows.bat"
The installer handles everything automatically. Just restart Premiere Pro afterward.
In Premiere Pro, navigate to Window > Extensions > Captain Cut to open the panel.
Once installed, you can start removing silence from your footage in seconds.
Enter your license key in the Captain Cut panel. You can find your key on your Dashboard.
Open the sequence you want to analyze in Premiere Pro. Make sure it is the active sequence in the timeline.
Click Analyze in the Captain Cut panel. The plugin will scan your audio tracks for silence, filler words, and dead moments.
Preview the detected cuts, adjust thresholds if needed, then click Apply Cuts to automatically edit your timeline. Captain Cut generates an FCP XML that integrates directly with your Premiere Pro project.

Captain Cut is currently designed exclusively for Adobe Premiere Pro. Support for other NLEs is on our roadmap.
It depends on your plan. Creator allows 1 machine, Pro allows 2, and Team allows 5. You can deactivate a machine from your dashboard to free up a slot.
An internet connection is required for license activation and for audio analysis processing. Your video footage never leaves your machine — only lightweight audio data is sent securely for analysis. Once activated, the plugin can operate offline for basic functions.
No. Captain Cut is non-destructive. It generates cut points as an FCP XML overlay on your timeline. Your original media files are never modified.
You can adjust the silence threshold and minimum duration settings. After analysis, you can also manually review and modify individual cut points before applying.
Visit your dashboard and click 'Manage Subscription' to open the Polar customer portal, where you can cancel or change your plan anytime.
