Filler Word Remover for Premiere Pro
Captain Cut is a native Premiere Pro panel that finds filler words across your sequence and cuts them with 99.2% frame accuracy — per track, in sync, and reversible with a single Cmd+Z.
You finish a talking-head take, drop it on the timeline, and then you hear it: "um... so, uh, the thing is..." every fifteen seconds. Razoring out each filler word by hand is slow, and it's easy to miss one — or to cut a frame too far and clip the syllable next to it. On a podcast, a course lesson, or a YouTube talking-head cut, filler words are the most repetitive job in the project, and the cost of doing them by hand scales with every minute of footage.
Captain Cut is a native Adobe Premiere Pro CEP extension — it runs as a panel inside Premiere, not as a separate app you export to. Filler-word removal uses the same detection engine as silence removal, analyzing each audio track on its own so dialogue isn't judged against music or room tone on another track. Cuts land in sync across every linked track, and the whole pass — however many filler words it finds — collapses into one edit you undo with a single Cmd+Z.
How filler-word removal works in Captain Cut
Select your sequence, set sensitivity and padding, and run the analysis — Captain Cut works on the clips already in your timeline.
1. Per-track analysis. Each audio track is scanned independently, so a filler word on the dialogue track isn't masked by a music or ambience track playing underneath it. 2. Sensitivity and padding. Sensitivity sets how aggressively a sound is flagged; padding adds a buffer around each cut so you keep the breath or consonant on either side instead of cutting frame-tight. 3. Synced cuts across tracks. Every linked track — video, dialogue, B-roll — shifts together, so nothing drifts out of sync. 4. One undo for the whole pass. Too aggressive or too conservative, Cmd+Z reverts the entire operation, and you re-run with a different sensitivity instead of undoing hundreds of cuts one by one.
Because the engine is shared with silence removal, most editors run both passes back to back on the same sequence before moving on to captions.
Why remove filler words inside Premiere Pro
Export the audio, run it through a web app, re-import, hope the timecodes still line up — that round-trip is where most filler-word workflows lose time. Captain Cut reads your sequence directly and writes cuts back to the clips already on the timeline, so your color, effects, and keyframes stay exactly where you left them.
It also means the filler-word pass and the silence removal pass share one detection engine and one set of per-track rules — you're never reconciling two tools' idea of where a cut belongs. Detection is GPU-accelerated, so there's no upload step and no render queue between running the pass and reviewing the result.

No. Captain Cut is a native Adobe Premiere Pro CEP extension, built for Premiere's panel and timeline architecture. It does not run in DaVinci Resolve or any other NLE.
That's what padding is for. You set a buffer around each detected filler word so the cut leaves a margin instead of landing frame-tight against the adjacent syllable. With 99.2% frame accuracy on placement, cuts stay clean without clipping speech.
The whole pass is a single edit, so one Cmd+Z undoes every cut it made. Adjust sensitivity and run it again — you're not manually restoring hundreds of clips.
Analysis runs per track, and cuts are synced across all linked tracks so video, dialogue, and B-roll stay aligned. A filler word on the dialogue track is judged on that track, not against a separate music or ambience track.
Yes. They're separate operations built on the same detection engine, and most editors run them back to back: silence removal first, then filler words, on the same sequence.
